Crucible Induction Furnace

Two hydraulic cylinders of Crucible induction furnace operating in parallel can tilt the furnace forward by 93°. As an alternative, two further hydraulic cylinders can tilt it backward by a certain angle for slag removal. All hydraulic cylinders of Crucible induction furnace operate simply, and after tilting they are returned to their original position by their own weight. Pipe rupture protection valves are used to protect against hose or pipe rupture and uncontrolled sinking of the furnace. The hydraulic unit consists of an oil tank, a high-pressure pump, a three-phase motor, a pressure gauge, an accumulator, and an overpressure valve.

If the power supply of Crucible induction furnace fails, the furnace must be capable of being emptied in an emergency. The technical solution for achieving this is to supply a low-pressure pump with a backup power supply such as a standby emergency grid, a separate emergency power unit, or a battery. As an alternative, the required oil pressure can be generated by a pump driven by pressurized gas, which is usually supplied from nitrogen cylinders. In very rare cases, a manual hydraulic pump of Crucible induction furnace is used.
